We can't believe another year is at an end! Our charity has made quite some strides in the past 4 years since we started in December of 2008. We've provided assistance for over 1,300 treatments to injured service members, we've been awarded a grant, and we're beginning new programs to expand our reach to helping injured veterans make the transition back to civilian life easier. It's truly a wonderful and exciting time at HHN!
We wish everyone a happy and safe new year's eve and day, and we hope you all have great luck in the coming year!

Happy Birthday to the U. S. National Guard
Happy 376th Birthday to our oldest military organization, the National Guard!
The National Guard even predates the United States, originating in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1636 as the militia. But these citizen soldiers still pack a punch. The U.S. National Guard has served our country overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan and domestically when helping during natural disasters like the recent Hurricane Sandy.
To our men and women who are "Always Ready, Always There," we are 'Always Grateful' for your service. Happy Birthday National Guard!

Anniversary of Pearl Harbor
This year is the 71st anniversary of the horrible attacks on Pearl Harbor in 1941. This event was the very catalyst that brought America into the fight of WWII.
Unfortunately it sometimes takes something tragic to make us appreciate our armed forces and service members. So please take a moment today to remember those who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor so many years ago, all who sacrificed in wars to fight tyranny, and everyone else who was left back home to worry and try to carry on.
December 7, 1941. A date that even today still lives in infamy.

Happy Thanksgiving from Healing Heroes Network
It's the time for family and food and cheer. Thanksgiving is the great American holiday, in which we all think of what we are grateful for.
This year, remember how thankful we should all be to our service members. When you settle in to watch the big game, think of our troops who must risk their lives every day trying to make this world a better, safer place to live in. When you take that big bite of turkey and sweet potatoes, think of our homeless veterans that struggle daily for food and shelter. When you hug your family, think of all those who aren't able to because they gave the ultimate sacrifice and died for their country.
This Thanksgiving, we at Healing Heroes Network are grateful for the men and women who bravely serve and have served in our armed forces.

wounded service members injured in Iraq or Afghanistan since 9/11/01 to use
towards basic necessities, including food, shelter, and clothing.

up to an additional 20 families," said HHN Executive Director, Stacey
Spiegel. "That's just incredible. We at HHN and the service members we

Happy 237th Birthday to the US Navy
Saturday, October 13th was the 237th Birthday of the US Navy. We at Healing Heroes would like to thank all of our sailors and sea-faring service members for protecting our country.
The US Navy began in 1775 as a means to protect our shores from the British in anticipation for the Revolutionary War. While considered extrememly dangerous, seeing as the British had the most advanced navy at the time, the US Navy had mixed results. They experienced some successes capturing British ships, but also suffered many losses.
Our Navy would go on to provide support in conflicts from War of 1812 to the current wars. With the mission "to prepare and conduct prompt and sustained combat operations in support of the national interest," we trust our Naval forces will keep us safe and protected.
Again, Healing Heroes Network would like to give a big THANK YOU to all our service members in the US Navy.

Help HHN Win a Grant!
Healing Heroes Network has been nominated as a finalist for the Mike Alstott Family Foundation Grant, but we need your vote to help us! With the grant, we would be able to help kickstart our Welcome Home, Hero program to help our warrior families.
Many veterans struggle with the transition from military to civilian life. The Welcome Home, Hero (WHH) program at Healing Heroes, helps to aid this transition by providing financial assistance to military families of wounded heroes for basic needs, including but not limited to food, shelter, and clothing. Once an injured veteran comes home, there are many changes for the individual as well as their family. Healing Heroes Network is dedicated to healing the whole hero; by providing short-term financial support for their basic life needs, we are able to help these brave service men and women get a leg up while returning to more productive, fulfilling, civilian life with their families. When we help improve the lives of our veterans, we improve the quality of life for their families, communities, and our Country as a whole.
But before we can help these veterans and their families, we have to win! And only YOU can help! Just "Like" the Mike Alstott Family Foundation on Facebook, and then click on the Grant Contest button underneath the cover picture. Then find where Healing Heroes Network is, and VOTE! It's as simple as that. You can only vote once per day, but you can vote daily until October 15th. Show your support of our troops and vote for HHN today!

POW/MIA Recognition Day
Today is POW/MIA Recognition Day. There are a lot of words we can say, but we think John McCain, who was a prisoner of war himself, said it perfectly in 2008.
"Today, we mark National POW/MIA Recognition Day, and I salute my comrades who served their country in unusual circumstances, and remember those who never returned.

Patriot Day: 11 years past, but we still remember
September 11th. The date has such a multitude of feelings associated with it now. Over a decade since the terror attacks that devastated our country, today we are still affected by war, fear, and sadness.
The great thing about our country, though, is that our fundamentals have remained strong. We will not give up our freedoms, values, or way of life. We will not be conquered by fear or uncertainty. Every day, men and women of our armed forces fight for America. We are honored by having such strong and brave warriors representing our country.
So, join in remembering the victims of the 9/11/01 tragedy and those who fell in the line of duty fighting the wars brought on by these attacks. Today is a day of remembrance, but it is also a day to feel loyalty and love towards one another and our country.

June 14, 1775, our army was created to help us gain independence. 237 years later, our Army is still going strong and protecting freedom worldwide.
Originally created as the Continental Army to fight in the American Revolutionary War, the United States Army has lead our country in our land-based military operations. The largest of all established branches of the U.S. military,
U.S. soldiers engage in trench warfare in WWI. |

The Healing Power of Golf
Men have been telling their wives for years about the amazing restorative
powers of a round of golf with friends. Well, with the help of the Healing
Heroes Network, they have quite a bit of support to back up their claim.
HHN is proud to announce the 2nd annual
"Golfing For Heroes" charity golf tournament to benefit the wounded
warriors of HHN. This year the tournament, sponsored by the 13 Ugly Men

All
the proceeds from the tournament will go to HHN for their mission of assisting wounded warriors injured in Iraq or Afghanistan after 9/11/01.
"We
are so excited for the tournament this year,” said Stacey Spiegel, Executive
Director of Healing Heroes Network. “Some of the local veterans we have
assisted will be at the event. We think it’s very important for people to see
what their generous donations provide and the difference it makes for our
injured military members and their families.”

4th Annual Sweetheart Poker Run
Many people celebrate Valentine's Day with loved ones, eating chocolates, or having fancy dinner. However, the fine folks of the Bullhead City Moose Riders did something a little less conventional--they used the occasion to show their love for our troops during their 4th Annual Sweetheart Poker Run.
On February 12th, the Moose Riders held a poker run in which motorcyclists could sign up to raise money for the Healing Heroes Network. The riders drive to various locations to pick up cards to create a "poker hand" in hopes of winning the highest hand.
The Moose Riders were able to raise $2,000 for Healing Heroes and had a lot of fun doing it. We at Healing Heroes Network would like to thank the Moose Riders again for their support of our cause and the brave warriors we serve.
