Saturday, May 19th is the U.S. Armed Forces Day. But what does that really mean?
The original creation of the holiday in 1949 was to honor the U.S. branches of the military. The military had just consolidated the services underneath the Department of Defense, and they were looking to celebrate "Armed Forces Day" instead of the individual holidays of "Army Day," "Navy Day," etc.
While those days are still celebrated, too, we at Healing Heroes don't think there are truly enough days for people to express their gratitude of our service men and women. So, take the day to thank a veteran or military member for their service.
They are willing to fight for our freedom. In our opinion, all of our days should be Armed Forces Day.
Enjoy the day and stay safe!
