Charity Pub Crawl to raise funds for injured Service Members!

Healing Heroes Network is excited to announce their Semiannual "Pub Crawl for Heroes" on Saturday, November 07, 2015 in Downtown Dunedin! Participants will be "crawling" to five bars (Chic-A-Boom Room, Dunedin House of Beer, Dunedin Brewery, Sea Sea Riders, and Rosie's Tavern), all the while raising funds to help our injured service members.

Pub Crawl participants will receive drink specials all night long and will be eligible for great giveaways and raffles! Advanced tickets are only $20 and include a FREE T-Shirt!

Healing Heroes Network's previous "Pub Crawl for Heroes" brought out over 100 participants and raised funds that enabled Healing Heroes Network to provide financial assistance for quality care to injured military personnel.

After the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and the subsequent war on terror, thousands of members of our armed forces have been injured in Iraq and Afghanistan. Often these men and women are unable to receive the treatments that would facilitate their return to a productive civilian life. Legoland Florida Giveaway!

Healing Heroes Network wants to say Thank You to our service members by giving back to our own local Military Heroes...

RED SHIRT and BLUE JEAN Fridays are here!

We are so excited about a really awesome new project we're about to launch!  And we need all the support we can get, so please help spread the word by telling your co-workers (and bosses) today!

You know how getting dressed up for work all week long is a drag?  Suits & ties... skirts & high heels... What if Fridays were different?  What if your boss let you dress casual on Friday, AND you were able to help a great cause at the same time?  Healing Heroes Network is kick-starting a MOVEMENT with our new RED Shirt & Blue Jean Friday campaigns, and we want to get your company involved!

Blue Jean Friday, or "Casual Friday" is a fun and creative way for office workers to build morale and have something to look forward to at the end of a long work week.  It's a reprieve from the constrictions of a formal dress code. Healing Heroes Network has taken this idea to the next level by incorporating the "R.E.D. Friday" ideal into the equation.  For those of you that haven't heard about this moving gesture, R.E.D. stands for "Remember Everyone Deployed".  It is our job as RED blooded Americans to show our support for our troops!  This mission was created to help Americans join forces, by wearing RED every Friday, to help boost the morale of our nations heroes overseas by showing them we care.

So here's how the campaign works...

- Contact Healing Heroes Network today, and ask for a Casual Friday packet. This will include info for both RED Shirt Friday and Blue Jean Friday, program instructions, staff sign up sheets, & more.
- Give the packet to your boss or supervisor, and spread the word among your co-workers.

Pool Tournament to Benefit the Troops

The Warrior Brotherhood are at it again--creating great, fun events for everyone to enjoy while helping our troops.

On May 18th the Warrior Brotherhood will be hosting a Pool Tournament at Cue-Phoria Billiard and Cafe in Winter Park. There will be raffles, prizes, and an overall great time to be had!

Spring Poker Run for Charity

The Warrior Brotherhood Veterans Motorcycle Club is excited to host the Spring Poker Run! On April 6, 2013, the run will benefiting the Healing Heroes Network and Sons of Amvets.

Price: $10 and $5 for passengers OR $15 and $10 for passengers to include dinner. Dinner includes BBQ ribs or chicken at the Amvets. Extra hands can be purchased for $5.

We can't believe another year is at an end! Our charity has made quite some strides in the past 4 years since we started in December of 2008. We've provided assistance for over 1,300 treatments to injured service members, we've been awarded a grant, and we're beginning new programs to expand our reach to helping injured veterans make the transition back to civilian life easier. It's truly a wonderful and exciting time at HHN!

Happy Thanksgiving from Healing Heroes Network

It's the time for family and food and cheer. Thanksgiving is the great American holiday, in which we all think of what we are grateful for.

This year, remember how thankful we should all be to our service members.  When you settle in to watch the big game, think of our troops who must risk their lives every day trying to make this world a better, safer place to live in. When you take that big bite of turkey and sweet potatoes, think of our homeless veterans that struggle daily for food and shelter.  When you hug your family, think of all those who aren't able to because they gave the ultimate sacrifice and died for their country.

This Thanksgiving, we at Healing Heroes Network are grateful for the men and women who bravely serve and have served in our armed forces.

HHN Winners of the Mike Alstott Community Grant

We are excited to announce we were the winners of the 2012 Mike Alstott Family Foundation Community Grant. After being selected as one of ten "finalists," the Mike Alstott Family Foundation posted a contest on their Facebook page for fans to "vote" for their favorite charity to win the grant. Fans could vote once a day, every day until the end of the contest on October 15th at 11:55 pm.

Let's just say, you guys did NOT disappoint! For two weeks fans voted on Facebook and urged their friends to do the same. On October 16, 2012, HHN had the most votes at 1712, 381 votes higher than the second place charity!

The Mike Alstott Family Foundation will be awarding the grant to HHN to use towards our Welcome Home, Hero program, which provides financial assistance to military families of wounded service members injured in Iraq or Afghanistan since 9/11/01 to use towards basic necessities, including food, shelter, and clothing.

"We will now be able to help up to an additional 20 families," said HHN Executive Director, Stacey Spiegel. "That's just incredible. We at HHN and the service members we help are so grateful to our supporters and the Mike Alstott Family Foundation."

Honor Veterans Day

Veterans Day isn't just one day on the calendar. It's an attitude. The consistent feeling of gratitude and appreciation we feel for those who risked and sacrificed for their country.

Veterans Day is a great time to show your thankfulness. Spend some time with neighbors, friends, or family members who served. Volunteer at your local VA hospital. Donate to your favorite military charity, like Healing Heroes Network.

Let our service members know how much we appreciate them. Honor our veterans and have a fun and safe holiday.

Help HHN Win a Grant!

Healing Heroes Network has been nominated as a finalist for the Mike Alstott Family Foundation Grant, but we need your vote to help us! With the grant, we would be able to help kickstart our Welcome Home, Hero program to help our warrior families.

Many veterans struggle with the transition from military to civilian life. The Welcome Home, Hero (WHH) program at Healing Heroes, helps to aid this transition by providing financial assistance to military families of wounded heroes for basic needs, including but not limited to food, shelter, and clothing. Once an injured veteran comes home, there are many changes for the individual as well as their family. Healing Heroes Network is dedicated to healing the whole hero; by providing short-term financial support for their basic life needs, we are able to help these brave service men and women get a leg up while returning to more productive, fulfilling, civilian life with their families. When we help improve the lives of our veterans, we improve the quality of life for their families, communities, and our Country as a whole.

But before we can help these veterans and their families, we have to win! And only YOU can help! Saturday, May 19th is the U.S. Armed Forces Day. But what does that really mean?

The Healing Power of Golf

Men have been telling their wives for years about the amazing restorative powers of a round of golf with friends. Well, with the help of the Healing Heroes Network, they have quite a bit of support to back up their claim.

HHN is proud to announce the 2nd annual "Golfing For Heroes" charity golf tournament to benefit the wounded warriors of HHN. This year the tournament, sponsored by the 13 Ugly Men Foundation, will be held at Countryside Country Club's beautiful Bay and Lake courses on Sunday, April 22, 2012. Along with amazing prizes for the first, second, and third winning foursomes, participants will get to enjoy prizes for contests like 'Closest to the Pin', 'Longest Drive,' and a ‘Hole-In-1 Kia Optima’ provided by Friendly Kia!

All the proceeds from the tournament will go to HHN for their mission of assisting wounded warriors injured in Iraq or Afghanistan after 9/11/01.

"We are so excited for the tournament this year,” said Stacey Spiegel, Executive Director of Healing Heroes Network. “Some of the local veterans we have assisted will be at the event. We think it’s very important for people to see what their generous donations provide and the difference it makes for our injured military members and their families.”

Golfers of all ages and abilities are able to sign up for the tournament and get more information online at www.golfingforheroes.com. Check-in for the tournament begins at 10:30am on April 22nd, with a shotgun start at 12:00pm. Admiral Farragut NROTC will be presenting the colors and PGA Professional Todd Keirstead will be on hand for a special performance with 8 year-old "HHN Community Hero” Patrick Farrell. Catered dinner at Countryside Country Club, sponsored by Heroes Hope, will be served immediately following the tournament and is included in the entry fee. Non-golfers are eligible to enter the raffles, and additional dinner tickets may be purchased for $35 a person.
