September 18, 2012, is the 65th anniversary of the creation of the U.S. Air Force. The youngest of our armed forces, the U.S. Air Force has been helping keep us safe with its mission to "fly, fight, and win in air, space, and cyberspace."Until 1947, the USAF was a part of the U.S. Army. With the National Security Act of 1947, the USAF became its own separate branch of the military.
The USAF has provided support in conflicts from the Vietnam War to current day Operation New Dawn. As the most advanced air force in the world, we are certainly glad these guys are on our side.
